The Department of Transport Science, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, is inviting applications for a full-time PhD position in the field of automated public transport systems. The focus of the position is the development of simulation methodologies for analyzing the performance of autonomous bus systems in urban areas, as well as quantitative methods for optimizing such systems in terms of vehicle types, network design, operational strategies, etc. We are looking for candidates with a background in optimization, control theory, computer science or similar with a strong interest in urban transport applications, or a background in transport science such as modelling and simulation, with strong skills in optimization, control theory or computer science. Object-oriented programming skills in C++ or similar are highly desired. The successful candidate will be involved in the project iQMobility in collaboration with Scania, INIT and Örebro University. The position is intended for graduate studies and research leading to a licentiate degree. The salary covers research on 100% during two years’ time, with a possible extension of up to 20% departmental duties.
